Greenbelt Advisory Board Meetings
Present Draft Comprehensive Greenbelts
Plan
Next Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday,
Feb. 7
Charleston County’s Greenbelt Advisory
Board (GAB) has set the dates and
locations for the next round of public
meetings.
The public will have four opportunities
between March 6 and March 9 to hear and
comment on the draft Comprehensive
Greenbelt Plan, which will be presented
by the Charleston County’s consultant,
Greenways Inc.
The public meetings will be held at 5:30
p.m. on:
-
Monday, March 6 at the John’s
Island Library (3531 Maybank Highway)
-
Tuesday, March 7 at the
Charleston Museum (360 Meeting Street)
-
Wednesday, March 8 at the Lonnie
Hamilton, III Public Services Building
(4045 Bridge View Drive, off Leeds
Avenue in North Charleston)
-
Thursday, March 9 at the Mount
Pleasant Library (1133 Mathis Ferry
Drive)
Each meeting will begin with a 40-minute
presentation on the draft Comprehensive
Greenbelt Plan. A public comment time
will follow the presentation.
“This round of meetings will be
different from the first round we held
back in September,” said Louise Maybank,
GAB Chairperson. “The workshops in the
fall were designed as drop-ins, where
the public could come and go at any
time. The March, 2006 meetings will be
more structured, with a presentation at
the beginning and the public giving us
their input and submitting their comment
forms after the presentation.”
The next regular GAB meeting will be on
Tuesday, Feb. 7. GAB members will
continue their review of the draft plan
and discuss prioritization criteria for
greenbelt projects. The meeting is open
to the public, and will be held in
Charleston County Council’s committee
room on the second floor of the Lonnie
Hamilton, III Public Services Building
(4045 Bridge View Drive off Leeds
Avenue, North Charleston).
