County’s
Greenbelt
Advisory Board
members (http://www.smallchangeforbigchange.org/greenbelt_members.html)
were presented
with the Draft
Comprehensive
Greenbelt Plan
during their
March 28
meeting.
The Greenbelt
Advisory Board
(GAB) members
then went
through a
page-by-page
review of the
draft plan, and
provided the
County’s
consultant,
Chuck Flink with
Greenways
Incorporated,
initial comments
on the plan.
A revised
version of the
draft plan,
which will
include GAB
members’
comments, will
be reviewed at
the next GAB
meeting. The
meeting will be
held on April 11
at 2:00 p.m. in
Charleston
County Council’s
Committee Room
at the Lonnie

During public
meetings held
March 6-9
throughout the
county, citizens
were given a
presentation on
the
Draft
Comprehensive
Greenbelt Plan,
and were
asked to provide
comments. A
total of 145
comment forms
were collected.
The majority of
those who
responded
support the
recommendations
of the draft
plan, which
includes goals
of 30 percent
land
conservation and
200 miles of
greenways.
The public can

At the April 11
meeting, GAB
members will
also continue
their discussion
regarding the
allocation of
funds to urban
areas based on
population.
During the plan
review at their
March 28
meeting, members
agreed that this
recommendation
should be
revisited.
