Public Meeting May 25 on Folly
Road and Maybank Highway
Intersection Improvements
Citizen input
important on project funded by
Transportation (“Half-Cent”)
Sales Tax
Charleston County RoadWise will
hold a public meeting on
Thursday, May 25 to gather
public input on road
improvements to the intersection
at Folly Road and Maybank
Highway. The meeting will be
held from 7-9 p.m. at Harborview
Elementary School on James
Island (1576 Harborview Road,
Charleston, SC 29412).
Improvements to this
intersection are being funded by
the Transportation (“Half-Cent”)
Sales Tax, which was approved by
voters in a 2004 referendum.
“Because this project and others
are possible due to the
half-cent sales tax, we know it
is extremely important to gather
the public’s input prior to
construction,” said Dan Moses,
Pre-Construction Director for
Charleston County RoadWise.
Many of these projects involve
work on the S. C. Department of
Transportation (SCDOT) local
highway system, as well as many
smaller roads maintained by
Charleston County.
“This and other upcoming
projects will address
transportation and drainage
improvements throughout the
county, and include upgrading
several existing roads and
intersections to handle the
ever-increasing number of
vehicles, and to improve safety
on local highways and streets,”
Moses said.
Public meetings will also be
held on the following large road
improvement projects:
-
Palmetto Commerce Parkway –
Phase II
-
Harborview Road improvements
-
James Island Connector Loop to
Folly Road
-
Highway 17/61 Connector
Improvements
-
Glenn McConnell Parkway/Bees
Ferry Road intersection
