Public
Meeting on Fort Johnson Road Proposed Sidewalk Project
Public meeting on Thursday, Oct. 4 to discuss 2.2
miles of sidewalk along a portion of Fort Johnson Road on
James Island
Charleston
County RoadWise is holding a public meeting to gather input
on proposed plans to construct 2.2 miles of sidewalk along
Fort Johnson Road on James Island. The meeting will be held
on Thursday Oct. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the James Island
Charter High School (1000 Fort Johnson Road, James Island,
SC 29412).
The
proposed sidewalk would run from Seaside Lane (by the high
school) to the entrance to the SC Department of Natural
Resources’ property at the end of Fort Johnson Road near
Charleston Harbor. The project will be funded by the
Transportation “Half-Cent” Sales Tax.
The public meeting on Oct. 4 will focus on preliminary plans
for a sidewalk design that would avoid grand trees. The
purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed layout of
the sidewalk with the public, as well as the additional
right-of-way required to construct the project.ject.
Those
attending the meeting will have an opportunity to make
comments, ask questions and review a conceptual design for
the proposed sidewalk.
