Public Meeting on Proposed
Realignment of Southrail Road and
Extension of North Oakridge Circle
Public meeting from 6-8 p.m.
on Thursday, April 24, to discuss
North Charleston road improvements.
Charleston County RoadWise is
holding a public meeting from 6-8
p.m. on Thursday, April 24, to
gather input on proposed plans to:
The meeting on these projects will
be held from 6-8 p.m. in the
cafeteria of R. B. Stall High School
located at 7749 Pinehurst Street in
North Charleston.
Funding for the improvements would
come from the Transportation
Half-Cent Sales Tax.
The public meeting on April 24 will
focus on proposed alternatives that
could address the problem of
difficult left turn movements from
Southrail Road onto Ashley Phosphate
Road and from Ashley Phosphate Road
onto Southrail Road.
Those attending the meeting will
have an opportunity to make
comments, ask questions and review
conceptual designs for improvements
to traffic flow.
The public will also be asked to
give comments on a proposed
extension of North Oakridge Circle
to Northside Drive. The purpose of
this proposed extension is to
increase connectivity within the
local streets and offer additional
options for traffic movement.
A sidewalk is proposed for Lady
Street to improve pedestrian travel
and sidewalk connectivity. Plans for
this improvement will also be
presented at the April 24 meeting.
Charleston County RoadWise is the
name of the Charleston County
Government’s management program for
the construction of roads, highways,
resurfacing, paving and drainage
projects that are funded by the
Transportation Half-Cent Sales Tax.
The Charleston County Transportation
Half-Cent Sales Tax referendum
approved by voters in November of
2006 included funding infrastructure
improvements.
