Notice
of Lane Closures on US-17 and SC-61 on Dec. 1 and 2
Charleston
County RoadWise advises the public of lane closures that will occur along US-17
(Savannah Highway) and SC-61 (Ashley River Road) in West Ashley. The lane
closures will occur on Monday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 2 between 10 p.m. and 6
a.m.
Both roads
will be affected within the proximity of the Bees Ferry Road (S-10-57)
intersection for approximately 2,000 feet at each location.
Only one
lane will be closed on each road, and at no point will the entire roadway be
blocked.
The road
work will consist of testing that is needed before project designs can be made
to widen Bees Ferry Road and make intersection improvements. The project is
funded by the Transportation Half-Cent Sales Tax.
The
single-lane closures will be continuous, moving from one portion of the road to
the next as the work progresses so the entire area will not be closed at any
time during the testing. The testing will occur in 100-foot increments and last
less than 10 minutes per location.
During the
testing, trucks with lighted flashing arrow signs will be on site to warn
drivers of the approaching lane closures.
