Construction Complete on US 17/Old Jacksonboro Road Intersection Improvements

Transportation Sales Tax project completed in time for school to start

Charleston County Government announces that construction of improvements at the intersection of US 17 and Old Jacksonboro Road in the town of Ravenel have been completed before the first day of class at the new E.B. Ellington Elementary School.

The $1.1 million project took approximately 60 days to complete.

The project was funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by the Charleston County RoadWise Program. The US 17/Old Jacksonboro Road Intersection project was requested by the town of Ravenel and approved by Charleston County Council.

Project description:

• Old Jacksonboro Road was realigned to create a T-shaped intersection with US 17 for improved sight distance and safety.

• Construction of dedicated right-turn and left-turn lanes from Old Jacksonboro Road into the new E.B. Ellington Elementary School.

• Construction of dedicated right-turn and left- turn lanes from US 17 onto Old Jacksonboro Road.

Charleston County RoadWise is the name of Charleston County Government’ss management program for the construction of roads, highways, resurfacing, paving and drainage projects that are funded by the Transportation Sales Tax.
