Traffic Alert:
April 23-27 Nighttime Lane Closures on Bees
Ferry Road
Charleston County Government announces the following traffic alert regarding
nighttime lane closures for the
Bees Ferry Road Widening Project in West Ashley so workers can relocate
existing utilities:
-
April 23-26: Bees Ferry Road at the Intersection of Hunt Club Run and
Main Road,
lane closure Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.
-
April 25-27: Bees Ferry Road at the Intersection of Grand Oaks Boulevard,
lane closure Wednesday through Friday from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.
-
Workers with flags will direct traffic through the closures.
-
All road
work is dependent on weather. If the weather is poor this week, work
will continue on the next weather-permitting night (other than a Friday
or Saturday).
Drivers traveling through
the project’s construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews
working in the area at all times. The public is also asked to notice traffic
control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information.
The goal of the project, which is expected to be completed April 2014, is to
make improvements to the entire 4.5 mile length of Bees Ferry Road from Savannah
Highway (U.S. 17) to Ashley River Road (S.C. 61). The project was requested by
the
City of Charleston and was funded by the
Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax Program. Partial funding for the
project was approved by voters in the
second Transportation Sales Tax bond referendum.
The public can get more information and see photos of the construction process
online at
